Camden Rotary Club volunteers recognized for community service – Knox County Villagesoup

CAMDEN – To recognize the dedication of Camden Rotary Club volunteers to the community and the crucial role they play in the Meals on Wheels program at The MCH, MCH Executive Director Liz Schuh and Coordinator from the Children’s program, Katie Tarbox, personally awarded the Camden Rotary MCH Meals on Wheels Rotarians receive a certificate of appreciation.

Camden Rotarians are many of the essential volunteer drivers that MCH Meals on Wheels relies on to deliver hot meals to recipients, Monday through Friday, throughout County Knox.

“We recognize the Camden Rotary Club Meals on Wheels volunteers with our sincere gratitude to the Rotarians who have done and continue to volunteer,” said Schuh. “It’s volunteers like you who make this program possible. Thanks from all of us.

Tarbox continued, “I support everything Liz has said and want to add that you are the boots on the court, and I am so grateful to you and I appreciate you all.”

Sharing a moment with a Meals on Wheels volunteer at the Children’s helps Meals on Wheels recipients know that they are still part of the community and that there are people out there who care about their well-being. In some cases, the meal provided by the volunteer may be the only balanced meal they eat throughout the day and the conversation with the volunteer may be their only face-to-face interaction that day.

Meals on Wheels are available to seniors and people with disabilities. There is a suggested donation, but no one is refused, regardless of their ability to pay. Some people need meals for a few weeks after surgery or an accident. Many people are given meals for months or years, allowing them to stay in their homes as long as possible.

There are over 40 Meals on Wheels drivers like Rotarians in Camden, delivering hot, nutritious meals Monday through Friday. The Meals on Wheels of the MCH is always looking for volunteer drivers for regular trips, replacement drivers and volunteers also interested in the office or other projects.
