ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia graduate midfielder Abby Boyan has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office in Birmingham announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Boyan has been a volunteer with the Clarke County Mentoring Program since the fall of 2018, serving as a mentor to students at Barrow Elementary School while providing support, guidance and encouragement. Boyan has also volunteered with Special Olympics Northeast Georgia since the spring of 2019, helping the organization with its annual “Hometown Heroes and Rivals” baseball game and fall prom. The Spring Lake, New Jersey native is also co-president and co-founder of Caring Senior Services (CSS), a non-profit organization founded to interact with seniors and increase their activities through positive interaction and support.

Boyan has served as team captain for the past three seasons, as well as being twice named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region and All-SEC Team. She recently set the record for most career starts in program history and is on course to break the mark for career appearances. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll in every season of her career, in addition to earning three Caterpillar Scholar Athlete honors. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in May 2022.

In addition to her accomplishments on the court and in the classroom, Boyan served as the team representative on the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was inducted into the Georgia Way Leadership Education and Development Academy. (LEAD) in 2020. She is also an ambassador for Georgia Way’s Life After Sport and Service program, which helps student-athletes engage with campus organizations.

Boyan and her Georgia teammates wrap up their regular season Thursday night at Mississippi State. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
