Sheffield Park Meeting Set

Austin Parks and Recreation will host the third Virtual Community Meeting on the Future of the Park in the Northwest District of Beverly S. Sheffield at noon and 5:30 pm on August 3 via Zoom.

During this meeting, the project team will present the final version of the vision plan, guided by the planning values, which were created through inputs from community meetings, surveys and stakeholder feedback.

The virtual community meeting will be recorded and displayed on the project web page.

Ministry officials will also be in the park from 10 a.m. to noon on August 7 and 22 to answer questions and seek comments.

Host family, adoption information offered

Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services, a partner of the Department of Family Services and Welfare, will host free information sessions for adults interested in fostering and / or adopting children.

Sessions will be held at 12:30 p.m. on August 4, 7 p.m. on August 9, 2 p.m. on August 15, 8 p.m. on August 24 and 8 p.m. on August 30. Each session explains how foster care works in Texas, that the goal is adoption.

Plum Creek Group Proposes Survey

The Plum Creek Watershed Partership has announced that a stakeholder survey is being proposed.

As the partnership bounces back from ‘The Big Pause’, it wants to know how to best meet the needs and concerns of stakeholders. To complete the five-question survey on ideas and activities to help restore and protect Plum Creek: bit.ly/3hN9zAg.

In addition, a Summer Wild Hog Premium Claim Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 12 at Smith Supply Co., 1830 S. Colorado St., Lockhart. Feral pig tails (in a sealed Ziplock-style bag) or receipts from a Texas Animal Health Commission certified purchasing station can be presented to a representative of the task force. Participants must certify that the pigs were harvested in Caldwell County from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021, to be eligible for the bounty program.
