Sage Naves Achieves SEC Volleyball Community Service Recognition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Georgia senior volleyball student-athlete Wise ships has been named a member of the 2021 Southeastern Conference volleyball community service team, the league said on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive season Naves has represented Georgia with this honor.

“Sage does an amazing job every day thinking of others before her,” said head coach Tom black. “This award is a great recognition of that and the impact it continually has in making things better.”

The Augora Hills, Calif., Native serves the communities of the University of Georgia and Athens in a number of ways. She volunteers with iServe Ministries. With iServe, Naves helps distribute groceries to families in need in Clarke County. Once a month, iServe brings a semi-truck full of food, and the iServe team loads over 300 cars for families in need. Naves also volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club of Athens and the UGA Special Olympics for the annual Hometown Rivals baseball game. In 2017, she joined a missionary trip to Uganda.

Naves is one of the volleyball team representatives on UGA SAAC and in 2019 was inducted into the University of Georgia’s Education and Leadership Development Program (LEAD). She is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s List.

The SEC sponsors community service teams for the 21 league-sponsored sports. The Community Service Team seeks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community for their superior service efforts.
