Participate in Meaningful Community Service – Pasadena Schools

Alverno Heights Academy (AHA) is proud of all of the community service its students have participated in the past semester. The Alverno girls donated items to the Humane Society of San Gabriel Valley and Riverside, collected pajamas for the women of Alexandria House and cooked dinner for their residents, they collected hoodies for San Jose farm workers; they donated to Adopt-a-Family through the Archdiocese; they have collaborated with a few new organizations, El Nido, collecting board games for homeless families; and they donated backpacks full of hygiene to the Eaton Canyon Foundation for homeless encampments.

They also volunteered to encourage cyclists at @ciclavia. AHA students have also collaborated on great projects, including donating books to the Union Station Homeless Center in Pasadena. Finally, the girls worked with the former Ellen Driscoll and the @cscpasadena!

Alverno thanks his students for continuing the school’s tradition of service and expresses his thanks to Mrs. Guerrero for leading the campus ministry program with such a spirit of generosity.

About Alverno Heights Academy

Alverno Heights Academy is an independent, progressive, all-girls Catholic college preparatory school dedicated to its mission of empowering every young woman to be exactly who she wants to be. Located on the property of the former Barlow Estate in Sierra Madre, California, Alverno Heights Academy was founded in 1960 by the Sisters of St. Francis who sought to create an environment in the San Gabriel Valley where young women could become informed and knowledgeable people. Later renamed Alverno High School and sponsored by the Immaculate Heart community, Alverno’s curriculum—academic, spiritual, aesthetic, social, and physical—has been shaped by staff, administrators, and students. As Alverno Heights Academy once again, the school remains committed to its mission of encouraging each of its young women to be whoever they imagine.
