Oceanside Police Recruit New Community Services Officers

OCEANSIDE, CA – The Oceanside Police Department recently launched a new Community Service Officer (CSO) career opportunity. The department is looking to hire 30 community service officers for a new program designed to promote the personal and professional development of every CSO.

Community Services Officers hired for this time-limited position will assist in a variety of non-sworn responsibilities and assist police by responding to and investigating lower priority calls for service. This allows police to remain available to respond to emergency calls and have more time for proactive enforcement while providing the CSO with valuable experience that will help them prepare for a plethora of public service roles.

Community service officers will have the opportunity to experience a variety of assignments across the department. Whether working alongside patrol officers, responding to crime scenes or helping investigate cases with detectives, the program is designed to create a pipeline of future police officers, dispatchers , forensic technicians and analysts.

Prospective employees will undergo and be required to pass a thorough police background investigation which may include a psychological evaluation, polygraph examination and medical examination which may involve drug testing. Successful candidates will possess the equivalent of grade 12 or GED completion, a positive attitude, a willingness to work in a team environment, and the ability to exercise patience, tact, discretion, and responsiveness .

Now is the time to start a career with the Oceanside Police Department. The newly expanded CSO program is one of many public safety improvements progressing in Oceanside, made possible by Measure X revenue.
