KRADD Is Looking For Seniors To Hire For The Elderly Community Services Employment Program

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – The Kentucky River Region Development District (KRADD) is looking for seniors to enroll in the Community Services for Seniors Employment Program (SCSEP) in Breathitt Counties , Knott, Floyd and Pike.

The SCSEP employs low-income seniors, aged 55 and over, in non-profit organizations in the region.

This program helps those who are eligible to receive valuable skills and additional income.

Those who participate in the program will work 20 hours per week and receive at least a minimum wage.

“I think [participants] are eager to re-enter society. You know they’re retired, they’ve come home, they’ve been doing the be-home thing for a while and they want to come back and be an active member of society, ”said Jessica Leedy, Senior Community Service. Coordinator of the employment program.

Participants can train for some of the following jobs:

  • Activities coordinator
  • Administrative Assistant
  • Daycare worker
  • Guardian
  • Secretary
  • Teacher help
  • Food service worker

Participants must have an income below 125% of the poverty line. This program does not affect Social Security benefits.
