The City of Houston announced a meeting scheduled for May 5 for the planned development of new affordable homes along Stella Link Road.
The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Harmony School of Ingenuity at 10555 Stella Link Road, Houston. It is intended to give nearby residents a chance to give their opinion on the design of the project, including facades, colors and the layout of green spaces.
Homes in the 12.2-acre area between Stella Link Road and Main Street will be made for residents earning 80% or less of the city’s median income, which equates to $44,350 for one-person householdsaccording to the Houston Department of Housing and Community Development.
Plans include building townhouses, duplexes and condominiums as the city tries to create higher-density communities. The project’s goal is to create 240 “disaster-resilient” single-family homes and is part of the Harvey Single Family Development Program.
The Houston City Council approved the purchase of the land for just over $14 million at a March 31 meeting using funds from the Disaster Recovery Community Development Grant. Lovett Custom Homes Inc. was the seller in the transaction.
Subsequent community meetings will be held May 17 and 31.
