Georgetown, Guyana: The President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali, attended a community meeting at May 8 High School located in Dartmouth Village, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) on Saturday.

The community meeting was part of outreach to his cabinet on the ground in the area. So far he has met with farmers, the private sector and residents of various communities.

The President talked about methods to improve education in the country. He also explained how virtual learning has helped the world during lockdowns.

He was accompanied by Prime Minister Brigadier (Retired) Mark Phillips; Senior Minister in the Office of the President for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh; Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, the Honorable Oneidge Walrond; the Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, the Honorable Nigel Dharamlall; Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Honorable Charles Ramson Jr; Guyanese Defense Force Chief of Staff Brigadier Godfrey Bess and Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Nigel Hoppie, along with other technical staff and government officials.

The meeting was attended by various members and COVID-19 protocols were scrupulously followed. Each participant practiced social distancing while wearing face masks to ensure health protocols were followed.
