First “Day of Goodwill” Seeks Students for Community Service on April 2 | Rogersville

Goodwill Industries of Tenneva Area will hold its first annual Goodwill Day, a day-long community service opportunity for high school and college students on Saturday, April 2 at the Kingsport Donation and Processing Center.

Registration is required and volunteers will meet at 2745 East Stone Drive (formerly Traders Village). The deadline to register is Tuesday, March 1 by calling 423-426-3922 or emailing [email protected]

Goodwill Day is designed for high school and college students ages 16 and up to earn up to eight hours of community service in one day.

Participants will learn the different functions of a dynamic social enterprise dedicated to providing employment services to people in need. This includes hands-on experience in handling donations.

“Goodwill Day will not only provide volunteers with the opportunity to fulfill their community service obligations for scholarships and tuition, but will also provide an introduction to social enterprise that supports community infrastructure through employment equity. and sustainability,” said Greg Walters, volunteer services coordinator for Tenneva’s Goodwill Industries. “As a bonus, Goodwill staff will be available to talk to students about career opportunities in the nonprofit sector.”
