Community program

Farmington is on the move with a new community program

FARMINGTON – For anyone ready to get out, move and have fun, the town’s Community Development Committee aims to help.

The committee is launching a community program called “Let’s Move, Farmington” to be held from 9-10 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month at Creekside Park.

The first activity was line dancing at the small pavilion in the park. The program continues until the second Saturday of September.

Councilwoman Diane Bryant, who chairs the committee, said the idea for “Let’s Move, Farmington” reflects the committee’s vision and mission statements.

The vision statement indicates that the committee will foster a welcoming, interesting and enjoyable community where people want to live.

The mission statement indicates that the committee will coordinate with others to organize events that increase citizen participation, pride and loyalty to the city.

“It helps create a positive image for our community,” Bryant said.

To encourage citizens to get out and enjoy the park while meeting other people, the committee offers free sweaters to participants in activities.

Here is the schedule of activities:

April 9 and May 14: line dancing.

June 11 and July 9: Pickleball lessons (equipment provided).

August 13 and September 10: yoga classes.
