CARVER – Capeway Cannabis already has its host community agreement with the city, but will speak directly to the public about its plans at an upcoming community outreach meeting.
The community outreach program will be an opportunity for owners and the management team to introduce themselves and discuss the proposed operation and its impact on the community.
The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday July 1 at 307 rue Tremont. Anyone interested in joining is kindly requested to email [email protected] for a Zoom invitation.
The board of directors voted 4-1 last November to approve the host community’s deal for Carver’s first recreational marijuana retail store in South Carver, not far from the Wareham border.
The agreement provides for an annual community impact fee for the city equivalent to 3 percent of gross sales, as much as $ 35,000 as Capeway Cannabis’ annual charitable contribution to nonprofit organizations approved by the Board of administration and $ 5,000 for educational purposes relating to recreational marijuana use.
Carver has since adopted a more formal host community agreement application process for retailers.
Although city approvals have been granted, Capeway is in the process of obtaining a provisional license from the state’s Cannabis Control Commission.
