How would you like to get involved in a project to find out what the people of Bramley think about the local culture and what you would like it to be?
The project is led by Zoe Parker and Lucy Meredith, who run Bramley Mermaids in Bramley Baths.
Zoe and Lucy spoke at this week’s The Local event hosted by Community Barley Society, which is the community development group that tried unsuccessfully to take over the running of the Barley Mow pub a few years ago.
Lucy told the meeting that “We Are Bramley – Acts Of Defiance” is a Leeds 2023 year of the cultural project to find out what you wish creativity and culture were in Bramley.
Christmas lights and take out
Bramley’s Christmas lights are not coming on this year due to the pandemic. The organizer Helen Garrand is interested in creating a route of illuminated places, do you want to be part of it?
What festive activities would you like to see in Bramley? And what festive activities are you / your group planning that could be part of a common and community Christmas program?
West Leeds Expedition Editor John Baron said the most commented article on Bramley this month was this one on anticipates that the Bramley Mall will have another takeout. Do you think the mall needs a take out?
John asked what stores or layout would you like in the Bramley Mall? Ideas suggested tonight included a greengrocer or store like Manufacturing where people could sell art / crafts in exchange for their time to make it work.
Newlay and Whitecote Residents Association
Rolland Cross said NAWRA plans to resume operations very soon, which is great news. In previous winters, they have held sessions to make bat boxes and search for Christmas wreaths in the local woods.
Have you ever checked out their fairy doors in Bramley Falls Wood? To follow NAWRA to see their posts and get involved.
