The American Hockey League held its 2022 Awards Gala at the annual meeting of the Board of Governors in Hilton Head Island, SC, Thursday night, presenting several awards for excellence and service.

Rochester Americans received the Community Service Excellence Award among all Eastern Conference teams for outstanding community relations efforts during the 2021-22 season.

Operating again under the constraints of the league’s COVID-19 protocols last season, the Amerks were again able to make a substantial impact in the Rochester community with virtual programming while continuing to raise important funds for several local community partners, including the Veterans Outreach Center, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and the Seneca Park Zoo, to name a few.

The organization has also relied on members of its front office and Alumni Association to continue its community outreach efforts in the absence of players and coaches. Among these are a learn to skate program in partnership with the City of Rochester for inner city youth with training for former Amerks members and other local actors as well as the continuation of the program Feeding the front lines initiative through a partnership with T-Mobile.

This is the third award the Amerks front office has received this summer after winning two Team Excellence Awards for Business Excellence at 2022 AHL Team Business Meetings Presented by Ticket Evolution last month in Allentown.

The Amerks were among the teams honored with a Renewal rate of 83% of business turnover for the 2021-22 season, a mark the team has reached six times since the 2016-17 season. The team was also recognized for hosting the the most immersive game operations experience in the AHL last season with their Invoice Day Game.
