Alabama Football’s Phidarian Mathis Named to SEC Football Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Alabama defensive lineman Phidarian mathis has been named to the 2021 Southeastern Conference football community service team, the league office said Wednesday morning.

Mathis helped build Nick’s Kids Habitat for Humanity in 2021 and has been a regular speaker at the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center. He also distributed school supplies to his hometown school district in Franklin Parrish, Louisiana, and hosted a youth flag football game in his hometown of Wisner, Louisiana. Mathis also participates in the Alabama Youth Reading Program, going to elementary classrooms in the community to read to students. .

The SEC appoints a community service team for each of its 21-league sponsored sports, seeking to showcase an athlete from each school who gives back to their community through superior service efforts.
