The Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette Branch (AAUW OML) of the national organization American Association of University Women, recognizing the importance and value of community involvement by female student volunteers, will award three community service scholarships each to female Campolindo graduates , Miramonte and Acalanes high schools.? Three similar scholarships will also be awarded to participants of the High Potential Program (HPP) at Saint Mary’s College. PHP participants are all first-generation college students.

Students are encouraged to apply for these scholarships before the February 15 deadline. Application information can be obtained from the branch website: oml-ca.aauw.net or the school board office. Each applicant will be personally interviewed by a team of two AAUW OML Branch members. Prizes will be announced at a celebratory event in April.

Fundraising for these scholarships began earlier this year. In February, Pat Rudebusch, owner of Orinda Books, again generously offered to host a book fair by presenting a special AAUW table to “Treat Your Shelf” with a variety of books recommended by AAUW members. The books will represent different genres and many will be newly published. For a detailed book list with a brief summary, see the list online at www.oml-ca.aauw.net
