The Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette (AAUW OML) branch of the national organization American Association of University Women, recognizing the importance and value of community engagement from student volunteers, will each award three community service scholarships to women. graduates of Campolindo, Miramonte and Acalanes high schools.? Three similar scholarships will also be awarded to participants in the High Potential (HPP) program at Saint Mary’s College. PHP participants are all first generation college students.

Students are encouraged to apply for these scholarships by the February 15th deadline. Application information can be obtained from the branch website: oml-ca.aauw.net or from the school board office. Each candidate will be personally interviewed by a team of two members of the AAUW OML branch. The prices will be announced at a festive event in April.

Fundraising for these scholarships began earlier this year. In February, Pat Rudebusch, owner of Orinda Books, again generously offered to host a book fair by presenting a special AAUW table to “Treat Your Shelf” with a variety of books recommended by AAUW members. The books will represent different genres and many will be newly published. For a detailed list of books with a brief summary, see the list online at www.oml-ca.aauw.net
